A decision
I'm going to postpone taking the bar.

Reason 1: I am already in a state of uncertainty re: starting my new job. Now is not the time to be panicking over studying as well.

Reason 2: I didn't get any bar materials until the end of December. This did not leave a lot of time for studying. Now that I have them, I can spend a solid 4 months studying when I have time, not when I can squeeze out time.

If I take the exam in July, I'll have been in my new job for some months and be comfortable there. I'll have access to study materials at the school. I'll also be on a schedule that allows me more free time. Most of my preliminary preparation is over-- I have 7 of 9 subjects recorded onto CD, and oddly enough, I actually enjoy learning this stuff. So I don't think I'm going to put it off until a month before the test (again).

All it costs is a $75 postponement fee. It's definitely worth $75 for peace of mind, and to make this whole transition easier.

I feel good about this. This is the right thing to do.

*giggles at your icon*

No more panic at the moment, anyway. I'm sure it'll hit at some point, no matter how prepared I am.

That sounds like damned fine decision-making to me. Well done you.

Thank you so much. :) It's a huge relief. One crisis at a time, thanks.

Exactly. Now that I don't NEED it to get a job, there's no rush to take it. Damn bars, I hate 'em.

I agree. It totally seems like the right thing to do at this time. And it is awesome that you have a job that doesn't require it. For a while there, the stress in your life was building up to epic proportions. It's nice that you can actually put some of that aside now and relax a little.

Yeah, this feels really good. Now I can just stress about the job change. :)

Good call!

Also, your yarn has not yet made an appearance-- eep?

Shit! Here's the info I have from the package tracking number:

December 30, 2006 1:00 PM USPS Entry BOSTON, MA
December 30, 2006 4:00 AM Sortation Center Departure NORTHBOROUGH, MA
December 29, 2006 12:24 AM Sortation Center Arrival NORTHBOROUGH, MA
December 28, 2006 10:18 AM Sortation Center Departure GROVE CITY, OH
December 27, 2006 9:07 PM Sortation Center Arrival GROVE CITY, OH
December 27, 2006 6:00 PM Pickup GROVE CITY, OH

Any idea what that top one means? It made it to Boston, but where from there?
Elletheletterelle on January 24th, 2007 08:45 pm (UTC)
I called the store, and they said that if it hasn't arrived after 14 days, they have to replace it. They're sending out a new shipment that should be there in 2 weeks max. :)
i_aldarion on January 24th, 2007 09:00 pm (UTC)
Sweet! Also-- whose name did you send it to? I'm pretty sure I told you to send it in Kaye's name, if I didn't, then... erk, that'd be why Resmail lost it?
Elletheletterelle on January 24th, 2007 11:04 pm (UTC)
I sent it to Kaye's address, but with your name on it. Wrong?

They're sending it UPS this time.
i_aldarion on January 25th, 2007 02:48 am (UTC)
Wrong, yes-- has to be Kaye's name, else Resmail is too stupid to know what to do with it. I'm sorry, I really thought I told you... Booger booger booger! >.0

CRUD. Not sure I can change it now. I'll try calling tomorrow to check, but I think it already shipped. ARGH.

Less stress is good. Now, get that job and all will be great!

It sounds like you've given this a good amount of thought, and it's the right decision for you. Congrats! Do it when the time is right.

That definitely seems a sensible idea to me. Good luck when you DO take them.
