Moving
I need advice, opinions, anything anyone can think of.

I emailed Chief, my realtor and friend, and asked him whether we should move out, have the floors refinished, and sell the house empty. He thinks that would bring us more money.

I am torn.

We have a place to go. We closed on the old house. It's ready to move into. And it would be so much easier to just pack up this house, get everything moved down there, and THEN clean and repair and all that. And we'd get more money.

But that would mean we'd be moving SOON. Suddenly, I find I'm not prepared to be moved that quickly. I'd figured on late September, maybe even to mid-October.

I'm enjoying this break from life. I sleep a lot. I work when I feel like it. I cook, I clean a bit, I lie about and read LJ and DailyKos. This is the first time in ten years I've had a chance to just rest. It feels so good. I guess I'm just not ready for that to end. When we move, there will be unpacking and organizing and looking for jobs. And then working again.

But oh, it would be so much easier to sell this place if we didn't have to make it look like a showplace house. If we could get rid of our crappy furniture and just load everything up and get it out.

I should probably do that. I'm just scared to leave. You know how it is, when you leave a place, even if you want to, but a part of you wants to stay.

Hey nixieq, I'm gonna need you a lot if we're packing for real...

*sigh*

Hmmm . . .

On the one hand, if you really, desperately need every dollar you can scrape out of the sale, perhaps moving now would make sense. On the other, I get the impression that you've been very, very overstressed over the past year. And I honestly think that perhaps keeping that stress as low as possible might be worth foregoing a little of that money.

Just my two cents.

Sounds to me like you already know the answer, darlin'. You just don't like it.

*hugs* I can understand the enjoyment of lazying about - it's very nice. And yes, I'm sure there's plenty of reasons for it. But, unfortunately, Life isn't always reasonable and logical.

Heart, mind and soul must be balanced. Base your decisions off that.

How about a compromise? Send most of your stuff to the new house to wait for you. Empty everything but the kitchen and bedroom.

Move now. You'll get more $$ for the place in early September than you will in October. People prefer to move in summertime usually--IMO it would have been better to have been gone by 1 August for that matter, but it's too late for that now. I know it's nice to relax, but I believe in striking while the iron is hot. I'm glad we did!

if your friend who is also a realtor says go, go. this person's job is to sell your house and they're not going to tell you things that are un-friendly and cost them money.

I vote for the move. You'll have to do it eventually, you might as well get the best price for your house.
Someone is saying that you will if it's empty, I think that's the way to go.
