I'm back.

Yesterday I slept. All day. Woke up at 4 pm, got up, ate something, cut out some quilt blocks, then back to bed at 9:30. Reality was not something I was prepared to deal with.

Today I'm back on. I'm not moving. I'm not leaving. I'm going to fight. I have some ideas, and I'm going to run with them.

The civil rights movement began in 1954 with Brown v. Board of Education. Emmett Till was murdered in 1955. Rosa Parks kept her seat in 1955. The Civil Rights Act was signed in 1964.

While that didn't end the struggle, it was a huge reversal to those who would have kept racism legal. It took ten years.

Ten years may feel like a long time, but in terms of a nation, it's fast. Maybe this will take us ten years to overcome. In ten years I'll be forty-one. I'll still be young enough to fight.

I'm committed to this cause, whether it takes ten years, twenty, or forty. I'm going to fight and keep fighting until we win. And if enough of us do that, we will win. In our lifetimes, we will see this movement become a powerful force. We can't just fall apart at the first setback.

So let's get to work.

And those of us who are younger than you will continue the fight when you're no longer able to.

By the way, expect a package from me *G*
