Ack
Crazy busy, despite no job. Weird.

I was supposed to go to Ft. Lauderdale for the International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts. I was a panelist. I was going to display one of my LotR quilts (that I made for kielle and that smolder brought me when he came down) and my tattoo, which was inspired by a passage in Kushiel's Dart. (Not Phedre's tattoo.) I was looking forward to it so much that I spent the last 2 days working on a top that displayed it perfectly. I finished it at 2 am this morning.

Today I found out that not only could I not get a one-day membership to the con, I had to join the Association ($70) and pay the full con membership price ($135) in order to present. I should have checked on this much sooner. It just never occurred to me. I'm used to fan-run cons, and I'm guessing academic cons are different.

I would have had to drive down 3.5 hours, pay $205, be part of a presentation for one hour, then drive 3.5 hours back to get here in time for rehearsal. I tried to get hold of Eden, cocoajava's friend and the moderator of the panel, to tell her I wouldn't be there, but she wasn't registered in the hotel. I sent her an email and left a message at registration. I hope she got them. cocoajava, if you talk to her, tell her I'm so sorry. I so wanted to do this. I was looking forward to it so much.

Rehearsal tonight, then V for Vendetta. I am so unspoiled for this movie. Here is the sum total of what I know of it:

1. It's about fascism.
2. Natalie Portman doesn't shave her own head.
3. You never see who V is.
4. V is played by Hugo Weaving.

I have assiduously been avoiding spoilers, even trailers. V for Virgin. :)

I'm sorry you missed something you were so looking forward to. *hug*

Your knowledge of V For Vendetta the movie is correct so far. :-)

Thanks, honey. *hugs back*

V is happening tomorrow evening, as it's the one night until showtime that I don't have rehearsal. I'm so looking forward to it!

I think you'll like V for Vendetta. I saw it last night and absolutely loved it. *hugs*
