King update
Here is the deal on the job:

I haven't yet been given a written offer, but one should be forthcoming. Right now they are checking my references.

I will be a reference/electronic services librarian at a law school. The school only started up 3 years ago, so they're still on provisional accreditation status. This is good, because it gives me the chance to help shape office culture and policies. My job is pretty open-ended, so I can make of it what I like. And the salary range (according to the biennial salary survey) for this area means that I'll be making $15-20,000 more than I am right now. With benefits on top of that. And because it's a state school, I get a state pension. ROCK.

Hopefully the reference check will be done this week. There's still a lot of paperwork for them to go through before I start, plus I'm taking the bar in February, so I won't be starting until March sometime, at the earliest. But that's fine, as long as I don't suffer a horrible accident between now and then. :) We'll have enough money to pay the bills for the next few months. So everything should *crosses fingers* work out.

On the bills front-- we got a home equity line of credit. Now we're paying off all our credit cards so our interest rate will be lower. That is a huge savings, y'all. That cuts our monthly bills by at least a third.

Things appear to be looking up, but I am cautious. Nothing is set until I sign the contract.
