On writing
I've been reading Steven Barnes' blog at http://darkush.blogspot.com. Went back to the beginning and am working through the archives. A lot of his posts are on taking care of the whole you-- mind, body, spirit-- and working through fear to achieve your goals.

It makes a lot of sense to me.

He gears it toward not-yet-published writers. And there seems to be some damn good advice there. He has a program called "lifewrite" that is focused on people who want to give up all their excuses and actually go for what they say they want.

I think I'm going to try it.

It wraps up physical fitness, relationships, careers, and the writing process. Apparently you can slowly improve everything at once. :) Honestly, reading this stuff has me very excited, and I'm thinking, why not? Why not try and keep trying instead of falling back on old excuses? And heck, if I could get some stories published, that's not at all a bad thing. :) I wouldn't give up my day job, but it'd be nice to have a little extra money.

So yeah. I'm going to do it. Anyone want to join me? I know if you read it, a lot of times he comes off like a Tony Robbins type, or seems kind of full of himself. But I ignore that and focus on the parts that mean something to me.

So who wants to write with me?

Totally understandable. But I bet writing would help you there, too. Characters make excellent guinea pigs for revelations you're not ready to have yet.
