Holy shit
We have a contract on a house.

3 bedroom 3 bath Victorian. 2 stories. And (this is vital), really, really fucking well insulated. Double pane windows and walls stuffed FULL of insulation.

This house would be at least $800,000 in a comparable location up here. Down there? $319,000. Considering that our crummy little 1950s one-story-with-basement, 3 bedroom 2 bath is going to sell for around $370,000, I think we're coming off very, very well.

It's an hour on the bus to downtown. Half an hour on the toll road. There are carpool programs.

My God.

Closing is in 6 weeks. I will post pictures in the next couple days-- I have to use up half the roll to get at them.

I guess we're moving. :) :) :)

EDIT: We want visitors. Yes we do. Wi not trei a holiday in Orlando this year? I promise not to drag you to Disneyworld if you don't want to go. There is a lovely beach an hour away. :)

Does this mean you're *moving* in 6 weeks?

*wide eyes*

Re: Hey--
No, darlin. :) We're not moving until probably August at the earliest. Which means we'll have to pay insurance on two houses. :p

I'd still rather move at the end of September, but I don't think I can put it off that long. :( But I'll try and get a ticket to come back up for Serenity. Because we MUST see it together.

That's freakin' AWESOME!! Especially if you manage to make a profit off of your current house. Heck, you might want to consider making a really large down payment so that you have a smaller mortgage. That way you can borrow even more against the new house for that farmland. ^___~

*packs for trip to FL*

We're definitely making a big downpayment. We'll put most of our profit down, so our mortgage will be less than the one we have now. :)

I am having visions of hanging quilts out on my porch... *happy sigh*

I am really happy for you, sweetie.

If anything gets muddled with the process, paperwork or if there is anything you are confused about or not comfortable with, let me know. I know the process inside and out.

I was going to help you with your list of reasons to move, but it didn't seem like it was going to help.

I loved reading your reasons for moving because they were almost the opposite of mine. One of the things on my list was that Florida was less Blue then Massachusetts. Though I did vote for a Dem last time, and probably will next time. I just prefer one was wasn’t a MA or NY Democrat. I’m really not a fan of either party.

I figured there would be more cool clubs in Orlando or Tampa then I could find here, but I’m not into the whole Goth thing. Though there is a Goth club in Boston I read about last week that sounds cool. I think it’s called the Crypt and the ad said something about gargoyles roaming around the dance floor, haven’t looked into it, aside from an ad in a local free paper.

Why do you think that Rob could make more $$ in Orlando? My impression was that the job market in Orlando was not as good at it is near the Nation’s Capital. Though Orlando is expanding so fast, that more and more jobs must also be coming in.

At first I didn’t understand why insulation was so important in Florida, but I guess that it works both ways. To keep the A/C efficient you must need good insulation too. I never had A/C at home until a couple years ago; we always just opened the windows and let the sea breeze cool the house. For us insulation was a winter only necessity.

Moving won’t solve all your problems, but it just might be the change you need.

I’m confused about Orlando; there seem to be cities within the City? You can drive for an hour or more and still be in Orlando. At the same time there are places that seem to be cities within the city of Orlando like Maitland, Davenport, Goth something even Buena Vista which is of course the part that Disney owns. On my Pocket PC when I tap the border of any other city or town it makes a yellow shape (around the town), with Orlando it looks like scribbles.

Congratulations, and I’ll have to stop by on my way to see Mickey.

congrats! While it's no fun that you'll be moving further away, it's a happy thing that it'll be such a good situation and has so many possibilities for wonderfulness for you both. Yay, hugs, Huzzah, and all that jazz! :)
