Here at mom's. Dude, I'm so tired.

Drove 6.5 hours yesterday (Rob does not drive, so it was all me) and spent the night in Florence, SC. (fangirlsays, I totally waved at you somewhere around Rocky Mount.) I fell asleep okay, but woke up at 5:30 am and couldn't get back to sleep. So I took Saffie out, and while we were walking around, we met a yellow lab. He was tied to the back of a truck, shivering on the ground. He had food and water, but no blanket or bed or anything. And no license.

I was SO tempted to steal him. It was too cold for him to be out all alone on the cold ground. And I could see his ribs (barely, but they were visible) and feel his spine. I sat down on the ground and snuggled him for a while, petted him and told him he was a good boy. I just wanted to cry. He held very still, didn't bark at Saffie or even jump when she came up to him. I wanted that dog.

I went back and forth on stealing him. On the one hand, he was so skinny and had no license, and was left to sleep outside where he was cold. On the other, he was clean and brushed, and his eyes were clear. His paws were kind of big for his body, which led me to suspect he was still a puppy and just hadn't filled out yet. So after about half an hour of snuggling, Saffie and I went back to our room, where I eventually fell asleep again.

Today we drove 8 hours. (cianconnell, I totally waved at you around Brunswick-- I have no idea if that's near you, but it seemed more like NEBF than Savannah did.) I am so tired. But I had to check in to LJ-land because I MISS YOU ALL. *hugs LJ to self* We'll figure out internet hookup in the new house in the next few days.

So glad you made it. 8 hours is a long time, but now you have a new house to look forward to. Good luck with the unpacking!
