Another catchall update, with randomly chosen bits for your amusement.

1. Milwaukee. I had my birthday there, and I was horribly sick through it. I'm still coughing up stuff, though the infection appears to be gone, so yay. I'm very glad I didn't have to work while I was sick, or I'd be in much lower spirits. We've decided to have a Strobbe Family Thanksgiving in July from now on. Which means I get to spend Thanksgiving AND Christmas at home next year!!! *dances*

This removes some of the stress of Christmas decorating this year. What we don't do this year, we'll do next. Not long to wait at all.

2. Weather. It is gorgeous here, in the 70s every day with sunny skies and gentle breezes. I am so glad to be here.

3. Concert. It was SO MUCH BETTER than the last time I saw them. They seemed more natural onstage. They played a lot less from Underneath, and a lot more from Middle of Nowhere, which I wasn't so happy about because I refuse to listen to Middle of Nowhere because I don't like hearing the baby voices. I like the grown-up voices. They played "Man from Milwaukee," of course, and "Mmm-Bop," of course. And many others that I don't know. Zac sang the first song and played keyboards. Yay Zac! Tay was on drums for that one, and I kept squinting and wondering how Zac had lost so much weight. Hee. :) I tried to get pics with my phone, but it's a crappy camera and they all came out crummy.

[Interesting sidenote on the camera. I was told there were no cameras allowed in the venue, so I smuggled it in. I was warned that bags were checked and pockets were turned out. So I put it between my legs. Hand to God. I walked into the venue with my phone snugged right in my crotch, which wasn't painless, but which was also not obvious because I wore baggy jeans and a long shirt. And you know what? There were cameras ALL OVER THE FUCKING PLACE. Not only could I have carried my phone in my pocket and not been searched, I could have brought the good camera and gotten good pictures! Dammit.]

They sang a lot of covers. Song #2 was U2's "Desire," and it was GOOD. I missed the harmonica, but other than that, it was awesome. They also played this song:

Standing cold and scared on top of Blue Hill,
There came one moment when I lost my will.
I prayed for mercy, "Please, Lord take me away,
Or give me sunshine where I only see grey."

The past had a hold on me, it can't be denied,
And the changes didn't come easily.

I've been lonely, I've been cheated, I've been misunderstood;
I've been washed up, I've been put down, and told I'm no good.
But with you I belong, 'cause you helped me be strong.
There's a change in my life since you came along.

Now I don't mind working so hard every day,
And I don't pay no mind to what people say.
'Cause after all the pain I've been through,
Lord knows I'd give up everything just to love only you.

All my life I've held my head bent in shame,
But now I've found you, and with you I'll remain.

Lord knows...

I've been lonely, I've been cheated, I've been misunderstood;
I've been washed up, I've been put down, and told I'm no good.
But with you I belong, 'cause you helped me be strong.
There's a change in my life since you came along.

A man gets crazy when his world is all wrong,
And a heart gets weary when it doesn't belong.
When the road gets rocky, Lord, you've got to keep on,
Let the new light come shining on through.

I've been lonely, I've been cheated, I've been misunderstood;
I've been washed up, I've been put down, and told I'm no good.
But with you I belong, 'cause you helped me be strong.
There's a change in my life since you came along.

And it was acapella. With incredible harmony. I would pay so much money to get a Hanson album of classic rock covers. After hearing them do "Teach Your Children," and then this, I think they could really show non-fans how much talent they have. People who wouldn't listen to a Hanson song. It could suck them in... :)

Taylor climbed a stack of speakers and jumped off. Ike's hair is buzzed, so no more fauxhawk. Zac appears to have lost weight, but is still the sturdiest of the three. I love these boys. They are so good with the music.

4. Christmas. Tomorrow, we're putting up decorations. :D Tonight I'm making cookie dough for Christmas cookies. I have Christmas and moving-in activities set up for the next two weeks. I'm in such a productive mood. And I'm so lucky that I have the time free to do this.

5. Watching Shaun of the Dead tonight. I love it already. :)
