Icons! Four VM Christmas icons, although in my mind #3 is for Yule. :) Take 'em if you want 'em.

Rob's birthday went very nicely. We spent most of the day at the mall so he could shop for presents. I picked up a couple as well, and a small chocolate chip cookie cake for him.

Tonight I made the tenderloin. OMG. I don't know if I'm just an awesome cook, or just that it's such a great cut of meat that it tastes good as long as you don't overcook it. I seared the steak in butter, then cooked up a sauce of butter, finely chopped onions, mushrooms, and a splash of worcestershire sauce. I cooked the steak with the sauce for another few minutes, then took out the steak, poured some half-and-half in, and mixed it all up.

It was heavenly. I thought I might've overdone it, but I didn't. It was perfect. There is nothing like a fabulous meal that you make yourself to make you proud. :D What's awesome is that the total cost of the meal for both of us was about $20. Add wine (which we didn't have, cause all we had was cheap white), and it'd be about $45. That's pretty damn good for a nice meal. :)

You are welcome to them all! Hee, Christmas icon with Logan's ass. Yummae.

Hee, I'm glad you like my food posts! I love cooking. I only post the unusual stuff, though. You don't want to hear "and today we had chicken breast AGAIN." ;)

What did you think you overdid with the steak? I would have done the same thing, except I'd use heavy cream instead of half and half. :)

I'd read that if you press the meat and it offers resistance, it's overdone. When I checked it, a couple of the pieces felt more resistant than the others. But it all turned out fine. :)

I totally would have used heavy cream too! :) I just didn't have any. Half and half was the creamiest thing I had. I didn't actually plan this meal, I just bought the steak and used whatever I had in the house. I don't keep heavy cream around because I don't use it that often, and it usually goes bad before I use it up.

Yay, I'm glad to hear I did what you would have done. As I was posting, I wondered what you would have to say about my cooking. I wanted you to approve. :)
