My Donnie Darko header/icon entry.
This is of course tweakable if you want a smoother version than the .gif, and you have a background you want me to use.

You really have to look at these at their regular size. The thumbnails aren't so hot.

This is a transparent gif, intended to go over a dark background, like so:

And the icon:

They are quite beautiful, baby. *smoochies* I don't care if you win or don't - I think they're wonderful.

Thank you, honey. *snugs* I'm resigned to never winning there, because they pick the styles they like, some of which I think are hideous, but oh well. I get ideas, and I make cool things, so it's fine. :)

Well, yeah, I stopped doing contests quite a bit ago because they all seem to be circle and cliques. But, they did improve my PS skills.

Oooooh, nice! *snags icon*

Can I ask you a really dumb question? Cause I haven't changed my journal style since 2002. Seriously. And it's broken now, lj recent contortions lost my background image so I just look lopsided and lost.

What style do you use for this journal? I think I may want to try venturing out into modern times, dinosaur that I am.

It's not a dumb question. :) I use Component, with a hack that someone else made to allow a header image. You can also use 3 Column, which doesn't need a hack for a header image, but I don't like the dashed lines. That's really my only problem with it; in all other respects, 3 Column is neat.

I am happy to make images for you if you want. :) I'm pretty good with subtle background images-- they have more depth than a flat background, but they aren't blinding.

I built i_aldarion's new layout, if you want to check it out.

Also, I'll have more Darko icons soon. Whee!

I actually got brave and started fiddling with my journal. I'm using 3 column, and had some fun adding links to the sidebar and making a quote box, etc.

I pulled in the background image I use at my website for now. I'd like a header image but I am clueless about what I *want*, so I guess I gotta decide that first!

I also want to figure out how to make the calendar NOT display May 2009, which is the forced-date of my friends only image entry. Hmmmm.
Elletheletterelle on February 19th, 2006 04:09 pm (UTC)
Well, you could make your friends-only image your header, and then delete the entry that has it. That would solve all your problems. :)

Eh, it's a fun 'friends only' banner, but not one I really want to see every day of my life.

Actually, it finally occurred to me that those already ON my flist don't need to see it, and those that aren't friended will ONLY see it. So I dated it back to sometime last year and just let it disappear into the fray. It's the only unlocked entry I have, so unfriended folk will only see it.

Sometimes it takes me a while to process logic!
