Why I like Orlando better than DC
This is the view of the city from my (temporary) office window:

Visibility for 10 miles. And it's almost all trees.

Um...okay, but no alligators will eat your pets in DC.

And I kind of LIKE the whole...no building is taller than the Washington Monument. It gives it a small town feel...and I always feel smothered in *big* cities.

Good thing I'm living in Vail Valley, right?

:- )

I thought taht as a native Chevy Chaser--I'd never want to live there as an adult...too small of a town...and yet? I have really, really liked the improvements they've made to Bethesda...and think I could be hella comfortable there.

Plus BCC is ranked in the top-20 of public high schools.

no, but coyotes might. >;)

my alma mater! it was indeed a very good school, although i've heard recently that the whole weapons-in-school thing has spread to even there since i graduated. i think the first time they caught some kid with a gun in his backpack was a year or two after i left. >:(

Or you know...Chandra Levy's killer.

Heh. Or...not heh. :- (

BCC woulda been my alma mater, but I went to NCS. *sighs* I'd have rather gone to BCC. Believe you me!

I did take a Chem and a typing course at BCC over a couple of summers, my parents were always looking into summer school for me...for some reason.

I lived on Woodbine...b/n Connecticut and Wisconsin.

The gun thing frightens...but I think that one of the first gun episodes...in the whole...epidemic...happened at Wilson, if I'm not mistaken.

*she says, from not terribly far from Columbine*

heh, i knew several brothers who lived over on woodbine. the kromers? philip, mark, and... uh... i think there was another brother, but i'm not sure all of a sudden. for some reason i'm remembering that there were 3. phil drove a big brown volvo, vanity plates "BHEMOTH" or something like. hee. and now i'm remembering the many times he tried the classic HS trick of seeing just how many people he could cram into that car...

as for the gun/Wilson thing, might be. i don't remember at this point.

the thing i really liked about BCC is that there were a lot of international students. one of my best friends was from iran.

I'll give you the alligators, but they're only in canals and lakes. We're not on either.

And I'm only on the 9th floor. :)

I'm not a big-city girl either, which is why I'm glad to be out of DC. Orlando is a mini-city. I thought I wanted to move away from here forever when I was a teen. Now, though, I want to stay. :)

See, I totally think of Orlando as a bigger city than DC. And I've been to Orlando plenty.

Funny that. How living some place, being ridiculously familiar with it...knowing that you can go anywhere (in a *city*) and be guaranteed to run into 83 people you know...can make you think of it as a small town.

I live in a place with a population of 6000 people, and I'm so much more anonymous than I am in Ch Ch (population 30,000). Heh.

I guess that won't last forever, though.
